Live Selling… So Many Options, So Many Questions!

As a longtime vintage reseller, I’ve seen platforms come and go—each with its own promise of connecting sellers to the right buyers. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate the differences between each marketplace. But now, there’s a new player in town: LIVE SELLING. And wow, it’s shaking things up.

If you’re like me—organized, process-driven, and juggling multiple channels—you know how much effort goes into keeping a smooth inventory system. Our routine has always been solid: source vintage lots, sort what gets listed online, what goes to our vintage booth, and what we donate. Efficient. Structured. It works.

But live selling? That’s a whole other beast.

Platforms like Poshmark Live and Whatnot are pushing us to be part host, part auctioneer, and part entertainer. You have to have the item in hand, talk about it live, and interact with an audience—while running the rest of your business. And if you don’t already have a following? That’s another job in itself.

Then there’s the question: Which platform should we focus on?

  • Whatnot? Great for collectibles and niche buyers.

  • Poshmark Live? Ideal for fashion lovers, jewelry, and related items.

  • Facebook Live? Local and familiar, but harder to get seen

  • TikTok Live? High potential but fast-moving and trend-driven.

  • eBay Live? Still pending approval—but one to watch.

We’ve been testing live shows for a few months now. And let me be honest, it’s been a lot of work, with not a lot of immediate reward. We’re averaging around 6 viewers per show—on whatnot, not exactly a packed house. We do better on Poshmark, we have followers there. Most shows have about 10 - 15 viewers at any time, with 125 - 150 in and out.

We’re not giving up—but we are tweaking.

So here’s where you come in.
We want to know:

Where do you like to shop for vintage?
Do you prefer static listings (like eBay or Etsy)?
Have you tried live shopping apps like Whatnot, Poshmark, or TikTok?
What makes you tune in—or tune out?
