At BackroadPicking, we’re all about the joy of the hunt — the thrill of finding that quirky vintage treasure, the perfect Pyrex bowl, or a long-lost piece of your childhood. We’ve met amazing people through our little corner of the internet, and we love hearing your stories about the things you collect, cherish, or remember from Grandma’s house.

But sometimes… we need to hit pause and share a reality check.

We’re not sitting around in a rocking chair just waiting to ship you a salt shaker.

We’re sourcing, cleaning, photographing, listing, promoting, packing, shipping, answering questions, restocking our booth at the Peddlers Mall, and sometimes even trying to have a life.

We appreciate every customer, every sale — but we’re also running a business, not operating as your personal shopping concierge on Etsy, eBay, Shopify, Facebook Marketplace, Poshmark, Mercari, or Whatnot.


💸 About Those Shipping Costs…

We don’t make them up. We don’t tack on mystery fees.
Shipping rates come directly from the carrier you picked at checkout. If you live 8,000 miles away on a mountain with two goats and no post office — we love that for you — but the shipping might reflect that reality.

Let’s be clear — we have zero access to your payment information. Even on our own website, Shopify handles it. It’s encrypted, secure, and totally hidden from us.

So no, we didn’t randomly charge you.
You clicked “Buy Now.” That’s on you.


😤 Stop Yelling at the Wrong People

We love our community. But we don’t love angry emails accusing us of fraud because your tracking shows a delay.
We didn’t lose your package — the carrier did.
We didn’t enter the wrong address — it came from your account.
And no, we don’t control how long it takes USPS to do their job. (Oh How We wish we did.)

But what we will do?
We’ll help you track it down. We’ll file a claim. We’ll get you taken care of — if you treat us like humans. We Want to Help!

Small businesses run on kindness, repeat buyers, good vibes, and coffee. If you bring drama, entitlement, or blame — you won’t last long in our customer list.
