This week we are listing some truly special vintage Hull Pottery pieces, and these came with a story that made them even more meaningful.
These pieces are from an era long gone. Thoughtful, colorful, and beautifully made, they reflect a time when life moved a little slower and everyday objects were created with intention. They came from one of the most beautiful homes we have ever picked up product from, in West Carrollton, Ohio, and the setting matched the quality of what we found inside.
The home was built in 1905, at the tail end of the Victorian era. It still carried that classic charm, paired with more practical touches that hinted at the incoming Edwardian era. The staircase alone was unforgettable. Wide and gracefully curved, it was clearly designed to be admired and served as the focal point of the home from the moment you walked in.
This was a four story home, from basement to a finished fourth floor attic space. Every level was filled with history. Vintage and antique items lined rooms, shelves, and corners, each waiting to be rediscovered. The auction company turned this into a two part auction, simply because there was so much.
Alongside the main auction was a picker sale, similar to an untagged garage sale, but on a much larger scale. Tables, boxes, and shelves were packed with items, making it overwhelming in the best possible way. We dug, sorted, and picked our way through, knowing the real work would come later once everything was brought back, cleaned, and prepared for sale.
We have been fortunate to step inside some incredible homes over the years, but this one stood out. Architecturally, it was a true beauty. The care put into the home was evident in every detail, and the treasures it held reflected that same level of craftsmanship and pride.
We are excited to share the Hull Pottery pieces we rescued from this remarkable home. They come from a small corner of the world, but they carry a rich sense of history, artistry, and charm. We hope they find new homes where they can be appreciated once again.
This work can be hard, and physically very tiring, but sometimes we get great perks, seeing old homes, meeting awesome people, and the joy of seeing, holding, and cherishing, these wonderful items we get to be the keepers of, even if for a short period.
Here is that beautiful staircase, and below that is the front/side view of the home.
